City Council is meeting on June 25 at 5:30 and one of the items on the agenda is Arcola Ave. I wanted to bring this to your attention as I believe people should know what is happening in their community. The report indicates some short term and long term fixes on Arcola ave. The long term indicates That Arcola Ave. bridge is not scheduled to be widened for 25 – 30 years. Statistics tell us in 2016 University Park and Arcola has 45,000 cars a day. Can you imagine what it is now in 2018. The bypass will be opening up in October 2019 which will take the big trucks off of Arcola. We are still a growing community and I see traffic continuing to get worse. They are recommending a study in 2024 to look at the traffic flow. By the time it is done it will be 2026 at the earliest. I feel this is unacceptable to people in the South East.
How can you help? You can come out to the meeting and show support to the ones who are speaking on the issue. The meeting is on June 25 at 5:30 at City Hall.
